Seal-Less Pumping Technology - Mouvex Eccentric Disc Pumps

Explore the Benefits of Eccentric Disc Pumps

What is an Eccentric Disc Pump and How Does it Work?

Eccentric movement technology is at the core of Mouvex®. Mouvex founder, Andre Petit, identified the challenges that gear pump and lobe pump users were facing in optimizing their process and invented the eccentric disc pump as a result.

Eccentric disc pumps consist of a cylinder and pumping element mounted on an eccentric shaft. As the eccentric shaft is rotated, the pumping element forms chambers within the cylinder, which increase in size at the intake port, drawing fluid into the pumping chamber. The fluid is transported to the discharge port where the pumping chamber size is decreased. This action squeezes the fluid out into the discharge piping. This ensures that the fluid passes through the pump at a constant and regular flow rate. Eccentric Disc Pumps also offers seal-less models.

How an Eccentric Disc Pump Works

How do seal-less Eccentric Disc Pumps compare to other pump equipment?

How do Mouvex Eccentric Disc Pumps Compare to Twin Screw Pumps, Lobe Pumps, or Progressive Cavity Pumps? When it comes to key pump technology capabilities like self-priming, run dry capability, clean-in-place (CIP), seal-less, shear sensitivity / low shear, easy maintenance, and product recovery capability - there's a clear winner.

Seal-less Eccentric Disc Pumps are:

  • Seal-Less Pumps (no magnets, packing or seals)
  • Run Dry Pumps (can run dry for up to 6 minutes, even in ATEX atmosphere)
  • Self-Priming Pumps (strong suction vacuum and run-dry capability = self-priming efficiency)
  • Shear Sensitive / Low Shear Pumps (low contact speed between moving and static parts and extremely low slippage which result in extremely low shear of the pumped product)

Seal-less Eccentric Disc Pumps offer:

  • Consistent Performance (pressure or viscosity variations have limited influence on flow rate)
  • Line Stripping (strong vacuum on suction and air compression on discharge)
  • Product Recovery (recovering up to 90% of the product remaining in the pipes)
  • Easy Maintenance (only 2 moving/wear parts, no specific tools, no setting or shimming)
