New Integral Display Transmitter Shows Reliable, Real-Time Process Metrics

SumoFlo® CELE-8103-D provides accurate flow data instantaneously

PSG Biotech Sumoflo Display

Because of the precision required to successfully produce them, the manufacturers of life science pharmaceuticals must ensure that all process metrics – such as flow rate, fluid volume, temperature and density – are easily observable, adjustable and confirmable. These tasks can be difficult, time consuming and susceptible to the occurrence of human error if performed manually.

Regarding flow management, operators traditionally had to wait until the end of the processing or testing activity to observe and confirm the flow rate. This made it difficult to detect any problems or inconsistencies that may have occurred during the operation, which could result in wasted materials and time while the integrity of the final product could also be called into question.

Recognizing the importance of attaining and maintaining consistent flow rates in these circumstances, PSG® Biotech, a leading provider of pump and flow-meter technologies for life science and biopharmaceutical process applications, and a product brand of PSG®, has developed the SumoFlo® CELE-8103-D Integral Display Transmitter for use with its SumoFlo® CPFM-8103 Series Single-Use Coriolis Flow Meter models.

The main feature of the SumoFlo CELE-8103-D is a 144 x 144-mm four-line display that allows the user to observe and record the following process metrics simultaneously:

  • Flow rate
  • Totalized flow
  • Temperature
  • Density*

*Density functionality is not available on SumoFlo® CPFM-8103-U08 model

Available in both panel-mounted and tabletop configurations, the SumoFlo Display Transmitter is a seamless solution that easily integrates into all CPFM-8103 flow-meter models. Operators can easily and quickly re-zero or reset the totalizer directly from the front panel. Furthermore, the SumoFlo CELE-8103 never comes into contact with fluids. This helps eliminate product contamination while also making it a durable component that can be reused with a wide range of fluid types in future applications. In total, the display transmitter is a sustainable solution that enables users to reliably identify and respond to process variations faster.

SumoFlo’s line of Single-Use Coriolis Flow Meters provides best-in-class accuracy of ±1% of reading. With flow-rate ranges from 0.05 to 100 kg/min (0.11 to 220 lb./min), the SumoFlo Coriolis Flow Meter comes in seven models. It is engineered for measuring fluids in high-purity applications that require all gamma-sterilizable wetted surfaces, providing accurate mass flow-rate readings for even bubbly and frothy fluids. With the addition of the CELE-8103 Display Transmitter, the performance and ease of use of SumoFlo Single-Use Coriolis Flow Meters are further optimized.
